Of Men and Their Skin -or- Why A Facial?

For the average man who shaves his face every day, there is a disconnect between what happens below his nose and what happens above it.

Below, the beard has grown out overnight and the morning brings hot water, foaming, alkaline suds and some scrubbing. Then comes the great shave, an elimination of the beard's growth, but also a thorough exfoliation of the skin's surface, the stratum corneum. If that lower face is lucky, the shaving man will use a toner or a moisturizer to replace the natural balance of pH, water and lipids. But I bet that more often than not the lower face is on its own after the beard has been eliminated and the face dried.

The part of the face above the nose? If there was a shower that day then maybe some soapy stuff got rubbed around, but nothing more than that. Perhaps a little scrub with a towel to dry off is the last the showering man thinks about his face above the nose all day long.

Men's skin is extreme.

It is more active in every way than the skin of women. It is oilier and more inclined to blemishes because of this. Also, the stratum corneum of men, the top, coarse outer layer of skin that forms the final barrier between the body's tender inner bloody bits and the world outside, is often very, very thick. This thick stratum corneum of men is often what the little bleeders are about when shaving, the ripping away of its built up places underneath hairs, not actual razor cuts. This thick stratum corneum also disposes men to big ol' blackheads, the kind that women just don't get.

Younger men can benefit tremendously from a skin treatment. The upper part of the face will be exfoliated (stratum corneum worked down to low and smooth) like it never is and the lower part of the face, the beard area, can be nurtured with emollients carefully massaged and masqued in. These various processes are assisted by the use of the hot, moist towel which sinks the gentleman receiving the treatment into a deep relaxation which transports him to an unexpected sense of renewal after the treatment is completed.

Mature men will be astounded to find how relaxed and restored their overall countenance is after the facial. For mature men whose faces have seen a lot of sun over the years, I have a wonderful Vitamin C treatment and serum that I leave on at the end of the process which serves to rebuild collagen damaged by sun exposure. Also for mature male skin, older entrenched blackheads are often a problem, and their removal is one of my prime focuses in treating mature skin. Years melt off with this service.

This is the best $45 you'll ever spend.
